Duolingo introduces a kid-oriented math app with lots of new features

On Friday, Duolingo introduced a new Math application during its fourth annual Duocon conference. As the name suggests, Duolingo Math will help people (especially kids) learn and improve math skills in a fun and intuitive way.

The new Duolingo Math was first introduced by CEO Luis von Ahn at Duocon 2021. And now we know more details about the app.

Those who have used Duolingo mainstream to learn a new language will find the Duolingo Math experience quite familiar. The platform features lessons and exercises as mini-games that challenge students.

This is Duolingo's first application that goes beyond language, although the company has stated that "math can be considered a lingua franca".

Lessons are divided into sections, so users can choose what they want to learn and practice. Luis von Ahn said the main idea of the app is to make basic math more interesting. However, it is not excluded that the company will introduce more complex exercises in the future.

Also at the Duocon event, the company also announced new features coming to its other apps. Users can learn Zulu, a language spoken in Southern Africa.

Duolingo and Duolingo ABC (helping kids learn to read) will be redesigned. The new update will show the user's progress through each lesson.
