Samsung launches GDDR6W memory with big upgrades in capacity and bandwidth

Samsung recently announced its latest GDDR6 memory chip with major improvements over the previous generation.

According to Gizmochina, Samsung GDDR6W was launched to meet the large demand for memory and situations where better computing power is needed.

According to the official note, Samsung has unveiled the “ Industry First Next Generation Graphics DRAM Technology ”. This new technology is said to offer twice the capacity and bandwidth but still has the same power consumption as regular GDDR6.

Furthermore, the new memory chip will also allow customers to use new technology without hardware upgrades. The Samsung GDDR6W has a new technology, which the brand calls FOWLP or Fan Out Wafer Level Packaging. The new packaging process results in a more compact design with the item thickness reduced from 1.1mm to 0.7mm.

“ With GDDR6W, we can drive differentiated memory products that can meet different customer needs, an important step, ” said Cheolmin Park, Vice President of Memory Product Planning Team at Samsung. to secure our leading position in the market .” The Korean company hopes that the new GDDR6W memory will bring better performance to AI and high-performance compute accelerators.
