Instagram will tighten up more sensitive content for teen users

Instagram is providing options for teens to limit the amount of sensitive content on the social network. In June, the platform added an option to limit adding such content. This option will soon be enabled by default for teenage Instagram users.

According to a new announcement by Meta, an update to Instagram's Sensitive Content Control tool will enable the "Less" option by default for users under the age of 16. Currently, Instagram accounts created by teens all have the “Standard” option enabled, and some sensitive content is still displayed.

According to Instagram, this change will make it harder for young people to access "potentially sensitive content" on Instagram. The new setting will affect the Search, Explore, Story, News Feed Suggestions and Suggested Accounts tools, and more.

But this isn't the only thing Instagram has announced to protect its teen users. Instagram will also remind teens to review their account settings, including options to control who can reshare their content, who can message them, and how much time they spend on Instagram. . Instagram also restricts how teenagers can send and receive messages from unknown people.

Instagram once "defied" changes to its recommendation algorithm to compete with TikTok, users (especially parents) have become worried about what their kids might see on the social network. Changing new policies to protect users, especially teenagers, from sensitive content will help parents feel more secure when their children use Instagram.
