Another season of Back To School is coming, this is also the time when new students have to leave their families to go to a new and unfamiliar environment. There are so many things that need to be headache when deciding to spend shopping, including choosing a new laptop . It is both a learning aid and a gift from parents, but how to choose a laptop that is suitable?
Note: The following article is for reference only, for technical students who need a high configuration we will have another more detailed advice.
Of course, depending on the different family economy, there will be different ways to choose a laptop. And my point of view when choosing a laptop will be to choose a laptop good enough to use for 3 years of college. It's not too late to upgrade to a more 'genuine' device when you practice or go to work.
Where is the money first?
If you ask me a new student, how much laptop should I buy? I will probably answer from 7 to 15 million as the most 'economical'.
First, we should consider actual needs. For most new students, the use of laptops for study is really not much, but it does not mean that it is not necessary. Decompressing files, making slideshows, running surveys or even typing plain text are all jobs that new students will encounter.
Of course, with the above needs, we do not need an expensive machine to serve, while the freshman year of university has a lot of other things to worry about. Tuition fees, accommodation, supplies, etc. It would be a waste to try to buy an expensive machine at this time (unless the family's economy is rich).
Gone are the days when cheap laptops were 'weak' anymore. Currently, from just over 7 million, we already have laptops that meet the basic needs of a new student.
But buying the machine is too cheap, is the configuration guaranteed?
Currently over 7 million, at major retail systems, you can choose laptops running Intel Celeron or Pentium. Although these are not exactly powerful laptop processors, but they are enough to be used for light tasks of surfing the web, typing documents, designing PowerPoint, ...
However, if you need higher demand or simply want your laptop to be faster and more powerful, from only 10 million you can own the latest Intel Core i3, older i5 or Ryzen 3000 chips. With the above needs, with i3 or i5 is too easy, even those who practice photo editing and video editing, these chips can still handle at a basic level.
In fact, in the price range of 10 to 15 million, the laptops will only differ in internal memory capacity and resolution. That means 1-2 million difference, you will be able to have a full HD panel instead of HD, with SSD memory attached. They will make the entertainment experience better and start the machine better.
Other factors worth mentioning
Design is sometimes the key for you to choose the right laptop in the middle of a forest of options whose configuration is similar, the price is the same. Of course, the cheaper, the design will also be a bit 'less luxurious', a little thicker, a little heavier. But if you move the price range above 12 million a bit, it is possible to choose machines with better designs.
For those of you who buy a laptop as any entertainment device for watching movies, surfing the web, etc., it is mainly recommended for the model with a slightly wide viewing angle, the better Full HD resolution. Because sometimes the viewing angle is more important than the resolution if the panel quality is good.
The point that I think is more important is that if you have a gamer who often plays PC games, you should consider choosing a gaming laptop or not? The answer is depending on your financial ability, but in my opinion, it should not. Because gaming laptops are often quite expensive (over 20 million). Both expensive, big and heavy, and the battery capacity is not very good, leading to very limited travel.
Owning a laptop with strong performance but with a price of less than 20 million, choosing the gaming laptop models will be the most optimal for the budget and experience of the new students.
Of course, choosing a laptop that suits individual needs is everyone's decision. The above is just my sharing opinion about how to buy a laptop for new students.
