Rochester Michigan has a lot to offer both residents and visitors. If you are looking for some of the best food while visiting Rochester, MI, we have you covered. We have set out to find the best-rated three local restaurants in the area to find out what makes them special. Let's take a look.
AVVINO Rochester, MI
The first would be AVVINO, a Contemporary American Style Restaurant with the slogan "Locally Sourced, Fiercely Seasonal." Michigan has four seasons, and with it comes a variety of locally sourced foods. The summertime is great for vegetables ripening. The fall is wonderful for those fall flavors, such as squashes. AVVINO opened in 2013 and boasts a wine list with over 200 selections. There are three dining room areas to enjoy the food at AVVINO: The Patio, which is seasonal, of course, The Main Dining Room, and Meyer's Den.
Some things you might find on the menu, again, keep in mind that it is seasonal, are duck breast, charred octopus, dry-aged pork chops, and Faroe Island Salmon. There are Coriander creamed swiss chard, spinach fritters, and Greek Yogurt Polenta for the sides. If you are looking for deserts, you might enjoy Apply and Fig Galette, Cheesecake, and S'mores Cake. Of course, this is just a sampling of their offerings, but we believe there is something for everyone. They also have a simple kids' menu as well!
Old Stone Tavern in Rochester, MI
Old Stone Tavern is a bit different than you find in AVVINO. Here you will find a more laid-back atmosphere than in AVVINO., a Traditional American/sports bar. Here you will find hot dogs, steakburgers, amazing wings, and homemade NY-style pizza. They have great American sides, such as onion rings, sweet potato wedges, and tater tots. This is also a music venue.
You can also enjoy take-out from Old Stone Tavern from Uber Eats, Doordash, and Grubhub. The goal of Old Stone Tavern is to serve high-quality food at affordable prices in a comfortable setting. You will find 7 large screen TVs to enjoy the game, and they also have QuickDraw, a game many enjoy while visiting.
REDD Restaurant in Rochester, MI
REDD is only open for dinner time, unlike Old Stone Tavern, which opens at 11 am and stays open until late in the evening or early morning hours. REDD closes at 10 pm and is very similar to AVVINO regarding the atmosphere and expected menu. Here you will find Pork Belly, Tuna Tartare, and Lobster Risotto as some of the main courses. While REDD has a menu similar to AVVINO, its atmosphere is more of a laid-back setting, of course, not as laid back as the Old Stone Tavern. The owner, Richard Reddington, is a world-traveled chef born and raised right in the Rochester area. He traveled the world and was a chef for various well-known restaurants. Reddington has won many awards with his restaurant as well as previously.
After starting REDD in 2006, he went on and opened up another restaurant out in the San Francisco area that has also been the recipient of many awards.
