According to recent reports by Nikkei, the upcoming iPhone 15 models will be equipped with the latest and most modern camera sensors from Sony. Compared to regular phone cameras, Sony 's latest sensor is said to be able to double the saturation per pixel so the camera lens will capture more light.
In addition to capturing more light, the new sensor also helps the iPhone capture a person's face clearly and better, even when backlit, Nikkei said. Currently, Sony is using an architecture that places the photodiodes and transistors in separate layers, so that the sensor is equipped with more photodiodes.
It is not yet clear whether Apple will bring this new sensor to all models in the iPhone 15 series or only on the Pro series. Recent rumors suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro will possess exclusive features not found on the standard iPhone 15 models.
It is expected that the iPhone 15 Pro will run the latest A17 processor, USB-C connector, more RAM... Apple is said to be working on a completely new telephoto lens that allows 10x optical zoom. This new sensor from Sony can be placed as the main camera on the iPhone 15 series.
