Apple recently updated its list of classic and outdated products. The 2013 iMac and 2014 iMac models are now listed as obsolete and no longer eligible for repair.
Outdated Macs include the 21.5-inch iMac, the late 2013 27-inch iMac, the mid-2014 21.5-inch iMac, and the late 2014 27-inch iMac Retina 5K. The late 2014 27-inch iMac was the first iMac with a Retina 5K display. At the time, Apple's Phil Schiller said, "This is the best Mac we've ever made."
Apple says products are considered obsolete seven years after they were last sold. All hardware service is discontinued for obsolete products and service providers cannot order parts for these devices. The 2013 and 2014 iMacs will no longer be repairable with parts from Apple.
Apple today also included the Apple Watch Series 2 launched in 2016 into the classic list. The list of vintage products features devices that Apple discontinued for sale more than 5 years ago and less than 7 years ago. Apple provides service and parts for classic devices for up to 7 years or as required by law, but repairs are subject to component availability.
