OnePlus will launch new Android update policy for 'selected devices'

OnePlus is planning to update its software. At the roundtable event held in London, they said that they will provide up to 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security patches for  phones  released in 2023.

The company also detailed the design decisions behind the latest Android 13-based update and revealed upcoming features on OxygenOS 13.1. It is likely that only flagship phones will receive this favor. We can expect the upcoming OnePlus 11 series to be part of the plan.

Talking about the change in the company's strategy, Gary Chen, head of software products at OnePlus, said:

“As a user-driven company, we do everything we can to enhance the user experience. With more and more people using their devices for longer, we wanted to be able to bring the latest features to those products."

"The new update policy promises to provide access to the latest features and security for the signature fast and smooth OnePlus experience throughout the life of the phone."

In addition, OnePlus also confirmed that the next version of OxygenOS will launch in the first half of 2023 called OxygenOS 13.1, this update focuses on safety and security with a new version of OnePlus's Private Safe.

The company also confirmed that OxygenOS 14 is in development. However, they did not reveal any details about the upcoming software. It is likely that the new software will be released in October or November next year.
