Taxi application Yandex was attacked by hackers, causing traffic congestion in Russia

 

A group of notorious hackers ordered dozens of vehicles through the Yandex Taxi app to the same street in central Moscow. Vice reported that because of the cyber attack, dozens of taxis were called simultaneously. The attack happened on September 1, 2022. 

A Yandex spokesperson confirmed that: “On the morning of September 1, Yandex Taxi encountered an attempt by attackers to disrupt service - several dozen drivers received bulk orders to arrive. Fili district of Moscow".

The spokesperson added that their security team resolved the issue in less than an hour. “Yandex Taxi’s security service promptly prevented the car’s artificial congestion attempts, improved the detection algorithm, and prevented such attacks to prevent similar incidents in the future. future".

At the moment, there is no official statement about which hacker group carried out the attack. However, there is every reason to assume that "the attack was somehow related to the so-called Ukrainian IT Army".
